West Sacramento, CA (MPG) - Carol Richardson has retired as Assistant City Manager after 28 years of amazing service to the city.

Richardson was honored during a retirement party in the City Hall Galleria attended by dozens of current and former employees, City Council members, family, and friends.

“Carol’s fingerprints are on every major project since the City was incorporated in 1987,” said Council member Bill Kristoff. “The City of West Sacramento is a much better place because of Carol Richardson.”

Mayor Christopher Cabaldon said, “Carol makes us all better, she makes everyone stronger. Her perseverance has changed the community and opened so many doors for others.”

Richardson helped create the Universal Preschool program, which has been recognized as a model for the rest of the country. She was also instrumental in the development of the West Sacramento Community Center, City College Campus, and the Arthur F. Turner Library.

“My time is West Sacramento has been a labor of love,” said Richardson. “A lot of credit for these projects goes to the City Council’s vision. I just helped execute the plan.”

Amanda Berlin has been selected to serve as the City’s next assistant city manager, effective October 12th. She has served as senior counsel at Remy Moose Manley, LLP in Sacramento since 2006, advising a variety of public and private agencies on land use planning, transportation, and business issues. A longtime resident of West Sacramento, Berlin has an environmental engineering degree from Cal Poly, SLO and is a member of the Environmental Law Section of the State Bar.
