Property Tax Delinquent if Not Paid

Nov 05, 2015 12:00AM ● By Source: Yolo County

Yolo County Tax Collector Howard Newens reminds taxpayers who own property in Yolo County that the first installment of 2015-16 Secured Property Tax, due November 1st, 2015, will be delinquent if not paid by December 10th, 2015.

To avoid a penalty, property taxes must be paid by 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 10th, 2015, after which a 10 percent penalty must be added. Envelopes must be postmarked no later than December 10th, 2015 if taxes are paid by mail. It is suggested that payments be mailed a few days before the December 10th deadline to ensure that the envelope will have the proper postmark. The only acceptable postmark for deadline payments is a U.S. Postal Service postmark.

Current law does not relieve property owners of payment responsibility or the imposition of penalties because of failure to receive a tax bill.

Taxpayers now have the option of paying property taxes by credit card (plus a 2.38 percent convenience fee) or electronic check (no charge). These payments can be made via www.yolocounty.org (select Property Tax button) or by phone at (866) 895-5027. Payments made using either of these two systems must be completed by 11:59 p.m. on December 10th, 2015 to avoid penalties.

For inquiries or more information concerning tax bills and payments, visit www.yolocounty.org (select Property Tax button) or call: (530) 666-8625 during business hours.

Visit the Yolo County Tax Collector’s Office at 625 Court Street, Room 102 in Woodland during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Yolo County Tax Collector’s office will be open until 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 10th, 2015.
