Free recycling of holiday trees (treecycling) is being offered to Yolo County residents at the Yolo County Central Landfill and the Esparto Recycling and Transfer Station from December 26th through January 15th.

Trees are biodegradable and will eventually decompose to provide essential organic matter. Treecycling turns holiday trees into valuable renewable and recyclable resources. Trees to be recycled should be free of all ornaments, flocking, tinsel, garland, and lights. There is a limit of two trees per resident for free recycling.

While recycling your tree, please remember that old electronics, such as computers, TVs and monitors, and paper, plastics, cans, and bottles, can also be recycled every day of operation at the Yolo County Central Landfill and the Esparto Recycling and Transfer Station.

The Yolo County Central Landfill, located at 44090 County Road 28H in Woodland, is closed on Christmas and New Year’s days. Normal operating hours of the landfill are Mondays through Saturdays, 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Esparto Recycling and Transfer Station, located at 27075 County Road 19A in Esparto, is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Help reduce waste in our community by kicking off the New Year utilizing these waste reduction programs sponsored by the Yolo County Department of Planning, Public Works, and Environmental Services’ Division of Integrated Waste Management.
