The curfew is in operational alignment with a similar order issued by the City of Sacramento today.
The curfew was adopted during an emergency City Council meeting this afternoon, and requires residents to stay indoors from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. and each evening thereafter until further notice.
Dozens of cities in California have also enacted similar curfews.
Protests and vandalism have occurred in cities across the country after the death of George Floyd who died while in police custody in Minneapolis last Tuesday.
