City of West Sacramento Opens Cooling Center

In anticipation of temperatures reaching over 100 degrees for the next several days, the City of West Sacramento is opening a cooling center located at City Hall in the first floor Galleria, 1110 West Capitol Avenue. The center will be open from 12 p.m. -9 p.m. daily starting Friday, August 14, 2020 and will remain open until weather conditions change.
Water and restrooms will be available in an air-conditioned setting.
Those wishing to visit the cooling center must strictly abide by COVID-19 prevention guidelines which include wearing a face covering and practicing social distancing. Everyone entering the facility will have their temperature taken and be screened for COVID-19 symptoms. Those who are sick will not be allowed inside.
Residents are encouraged to shelter at home if possible, to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
The City, in partnership with Yolo County is sheltering 81 homeless individuals in local motels during this time as part of Project Roomkey, which is a state program to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 among those most vulnerable.
