Mental Health Services and Supports for Children, Adolescent and Young Adult Residents of Yolo County
Oct 14, 2020 12:00AM ● By Jenny Tan, Public Information Officer, Yolo CountyWOODLAND, CA (MPG) - In an ongoing effort to support the health, safety and economic stability of the community, the Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) is reminding the public of mental health services that are available to all children, adolescent and young adult residents.
- The County’s Mental Health Crisis and Access Line is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to residents of all ages at 1-888-965-6647 (TDD: 1-800-735-2929). The Crisis and Access Line offers immediate assistance and subsequent referral to callers.
- Specialty Mental Health Services can also be provided by HHSA staff or a contracted mental health provider for youth who are Medi-Cal recipients. These services can be provided in community-based settings such as homes and schools, with safety modifications in place for COVID-19.
- Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) programs are also provided by the County in local schools that focus on linking children to care. These programs offer 1) individual, school"based therapy, 2) resiliency programming, and 3) education for children, youth, their families, and school staff about mental health.
- The Yolo Suicide Prevention Crisis Line at 888-233-0228 or 530-666-7778 serves residents of all ages and is funded by Yolo County. Teens can also contact a dedicated Teen Crisis Line at 520-666-8445, or the National Suicide Prevention Crisis Line at 1-800-273-TALK. Additionally, a free Crisis Text Line is available, for 24/7 support. A trained Crisis Counselor can be reached by texting “home” to 741741 from anywhere in the U.S.
- Lastly, a variety of free trainings is available to any Yolo County resident or employer by HHSA. These trainings use a variety of curriculums, including Mental Health First Aid, Youth Mental Health First Aid, and Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR).
