Second Sustainability Plan Workshop on December 9
Nov 24, 2020 12:00AM ● By Jenny Tan, Public Information Officer, Yolo CountyWOODLAND, CA (MPG) - Yolo County invites the public to participate in the second virtual workshop on December 9, 2020 from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. regarding a Sustainability Plan (Plan) that will serve as the County’s environmental roadmap for future programs and processes and will feature presentations by County staff, consultant staff, and members of the County’s Climate Action Plan Working Group. Participants can register for this workshop at: bit.ly/YCsustainability.
In this second workshop, County staff will share the preliminary draft of sustainability recommendations and will invite input from workshop participants. These draft recommendations build on existing County initiatives and are informed by public feedback gathered during stakeholder interviews conducted in Fall 2020, responses to an online survey, and the first public workshop held in September 2020. To find more project information, visit the Sustainability Plan webpage at: bit.ly/YCsustainability.
The first workshop was held in September 2020 and shared: how the County is already addressing sustainability through existing planning efforts and initiatives; the County’s vision for becoming more sustainable; and gathered public feedback and input from the community on any gaps, inconsistencies or opportunities to become more sustainable moving forward.
Yolo County has been recognized for its efforts in sustainability, through policies that preserve agricultural land and open space, promote compact development and reduce urban sprawl, support access to fresh locally grown produce, and through a commitment to green energy to power public facilities, homes, and other buildings. The Plan is a continuation of this work and will address eight core elements: air quality, building energy, ecological health, education, local food, agriculture, waste, and water. The County’s Sustainability Plan webpage will be updated regularly with additional information at: bit.ly/YCsustainability.
