Regional effort under way to cope with drought

When the drought began this year, the City of West Sacramento urged a voluntary 10% reduction in water use. Now, in partnership with the Regional Water Authority, the City urges increased voluntary conservation by a minimum of 15 percent.

This may sound like a lot, but there are a few easy ways to reduce water waste around the home:

  • Check your sprinkler schedule. Remove one or two days from the schedule if you can, and make sure runtimes aren’t more than 15 minutes for your lawn.
  • Check your toilets for a leak. That may seem insignificant, but running toilets can waste up to 70,00 gallons of water in a month!
  • Apply for the Smart Irrigation Controller Rebate. These devices do the work for you! They make sure your landscape get just the right amount of water, reducing water waste. Learn more at www.cityofwestsacramento.org/water.
