WEST SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - On June 14^th, 2022, a fire started at the building on the corner of Harbor Blvd and West Capitol Ave. that was under construction to become a Jimboy’s Tacos. At around 10 a.m. the fire started in the back of the building and quickly spread through the attic. West Sac Fire was able to respond quickly and extinguish the flames, but, unfortunately, the damage brought the project to a screeching halt. A homeless man was seen in the area at the time, and when police located the man, they found that he had a warrant and was arrested. There was no evidence that he was connected to the fire.

Since the fire the building has sat, boarded up, with no sign of change. We reached out to Jimboy’s Corporate, and they happily told us the project is still planned. “It’s been a process,” said Courtney, Jimboy’s representative, “We have been dealing with insurance, the county and the city, trying to get things straightened away and in order.”

They are still paying rent on the property and want the town to know that they are not dragging their heels by any means, and that they are disappointed that they didn’t even get to serve one customer yet. Courtney said they don’t have a specific date yet, but it’s looking like the end of the year.

Jimboy’s plans on putting all the details on social media and other platforms to announce the grand opening and said they are happy the community is eager for them to be there. They said they are disappointed with the length of time it’s taking, but it is out of their hands. They wanted to thank West Sacramento for their support and look forward to the opening.
