Computers4Kids to Host Donation Drive

WEST SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - On Wednesday, Dec. 4, Computer4Kids will host a computer donation drive event at the Arthur F. Turner Community Library. The event is scheduled from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Consider donating your used computer devices to Computers4Kids! Computers4Kids takes used computers, securely cleans and refurbishes them and donates them to individuals in need. As part of the green technology initiative these efforts reduce electronic waste, and provide support for individuals to access online education, health care and the job market.
Computers4Kids is a nonprofit organization serving the Sacramento region with the mission to improve the educational outcome of low-income students in our community by providing free and low-cost computers. Services include free and lost-cost devices, digital literacy classes and low-cost internet sign-ups. Computers4Kids has collaborated with: United Way California Capital Region Washington Unified School District Los Rios Community College.

Computers4Kids provides services leading to digital equity for individuals and communities in the greater Sacramento area. These services help students get connected to the internet to support their schoolwork, and individuals get connected to assist them with their job searches and professional development. Computers4Kids works with schools, housing authorities, and local community non-profits to get free computers, affordable internet, and digital literacy support for individuals. These services are called internet adoption services and pairing with statewide middle mile and last mile infrastructure projects they are the final link in providing internet to all.
The News Ledger reached out to Computer4Kids regarding the organization’s impact in the community. They reported that over the last year, the organization had assisted 192 individuals get connected to affordable internet and distributed more than 1,100 refurbished computers for free to students and qualified individuals. In total the organization’s financial impact over the last year has been more than $528,000 in savings for households served.
