SACRAMENTO REGION, CA (MPG) – On Jan. 3, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-CA), issued the following statement after she was sworn in to serve California’s 7th District in the 119th Congress.
“As a leader on the Energy and Commerce Committee, I’m privileged to work on issues that have a transformational impact on our country,” Matsui continued. “I’ll continue to fight for expanded access to health care, a future with a livable planet, and broadband access for everyone. I’ll continue to defend our democratic institutions and stand up for communities of color, the unhoused, and the most vulnerable among us. I’m ready to get back to work to tackle the pressing issues facing our neighbors and fellow Americans.”
California’s 7th Congressional District encompasses the heart of the Sacramento region, including the communities of Sacramento, Elk Grove, West Sacramento, Galt, Rancho Murieta, Wilton and the Delta communities.
Matsui has represented the Sacramento region in Congress since 2005. CMatsui has been a champion of our regional community, securing billions of dollars of federal funding for infrastructure and flood protection projects across the region. As a leader on the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee, she spearheads crucial policy to expand health care access, combat the climate crisis, and tackle the technological challenges of the 21st century economy.
