Ironman California, part of the VinFast IRONMAN North America Series, stands out as an exceptional triathlon event set in the electric Sacramento area, known for its fast course that provides athletes with an incredible racing experience. ​

​The Ironman California’s flat terrain allows triathletes to unleash their full potential, with a downriver 2.4-mile swim, voted one of the best swim courses in North America as voted on by athletes, a fast and flat 112-mile bike through beautiful farm and wine country, and a spirited 26.2-mile run lined with cheering spectators.

The race culminates at an epic finish line at the California State Capitol, providing a grand and iconic backdrop for becoming an Ironman.  ​

Race day will also impact roads and facilities along both sides of the river, so the City of West Sacramento advises residents to be aware of closures and choose alternate routes.

Road closures in West Sacramento include the Cabaldon Parkway (Tower Bridge), Riverfront Street, Ballpark Drive, Mill Street, Gregory Avenue, South River Road and Village Parkway, and rural parts of Yolo County south into the Clarksburg area. The West Sacramento Police Department, City of West Sacramento and the Ironman team are working closely to minimize impacts on the community.

Closures will take place between 3 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 19. Those times are listed below.

Cabaldon Parkway (Tower Bridge) from Riverfront Street to Front Street (east side) will be closed from 7 a.m. to midnight.

Riverfront Street from Mill Street to Cabaldon Parkway (Tower Bridge) will be closed from 3 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Ballpark Drive from 5th Street to Riverfront Street will be closed from 3 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Mill Street from Riverfront Street to 5th Street will be closed from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

South River Road from Mill Street to Locks Drive will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Village Parkway from South River Road to Gregory Avenue will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Gregory Avenue from Village Parkway to South River Road will be closed from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

South River Road from Gregory Avenue to Babel Slough Road will be closed from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
