SACRAMENTO REGION, CA (MPG) – On Oct. 20, Assemblyman Josh Hoover announced that Tangle Free: A Low-Sensory Hair Salon is the Small Business of the Month for October 2025 in the 7th Assembly District.
Founded and operated by mother-daughter duo Crissy Klapheck and Lacey Martinez, Tangle Free has created a welcoming and compassionate space in Carmichael for individuals with sensory sensitivities and neurodiverse needs.
After reopening in October 2020, Crissy and Lacey launched Tangle Free with a simple but powerful vision: to provide one-on-one haircut experiences for individuals who often find traditional salon environments overwhelming.
Drawing from their own family’s experiences with developmental disabilities and different learning styles, they designed a salon where every client can feel safe, understood and supported.
At Tangle Free, every detail, from the calming atmosphere to the personalized service, is crafted to meet clients where they are in their haircut journey. The salon welcomes all ages, including energetic kids who might need extra patience or space to fidget or express big emotions.
“I am proud to recognize Tangle Free as our Small Business of the Month for October 2025,” said Hoover. “Crissy and Lacey’s dedication to inclusion, empathy and accessibility has made Tangle Free a beloved part of our local community and a model for how small businesses can make a big difference.”
Tangle Free is located at 8300 Fair Oaks Blvd., Suite 301, Carmichael. Hoover is honored to recognize them as the October 2025 Small Business of the Month and thanks them for their continued service to the 7th Assembly District.
State Assemblymember Josh Hoover represents Assembly District 7, which includes the cities of Citrus Heights, Folsom and Rancho Cordova and the unincorporated communities of Carmichael, Fair Oaks, Foothill Farms, Gold River, Mather, McClellan Park, North Highlands, Orangevale and Rosemont.
