SACRAMENTO REGION, CA (MPG) - On Saturday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to noon, the Target store located at 3601 N Freeway Blvd. will host a Heroes & Helpers event in partnership with Sacramento Police Department and Sacramento Police Officer Association (SPO) 1849 Foundation.
About Heroes & Helpers
Since 2009, Target has hosted Heroes & Helpers events in stores across the country, pairing local public safety partners with youth from under-resourced areas for a holiday shopping experience funded by Target GiftCards. The program creates opportunities for children to select gifts for themselves or loved ones, all with the support of community heroes by their side.
It’s designed to bring joy to families during the holidays while building strong, lasting relationships between Target teams, first responders, and the communities they serve.
How the Event Works
Heroes & Helpers is a collaboration between Target, local charity organizations and first responders — including police, fire and EMS teams. Here’s how it comes together:Local first responders partner with a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in their community and apply for a Target grant. Approved partners receive funding through Target GiftCards to host a holiday shopping event supporting kids from under-resourced areas. Events take place in-store, where Target team members help create a joyful and memorable holiday experience.
National Impact
Since launching the program, Target Heroes & Helpers has awarded more than $6 million in Heroes & Helpers grants, hosted 3,000+ in-store events, welcomed over 100,000 kids from under-resourced communities and partnered with more than 60,000 public safety partners.
