Gandara Named WUSD's Director II of Facilities, Construction and Planning

WEST SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - Washington Unified School District (WUSD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Daniel Gandara as the new Washington Unified School Director II, Facilities, Construction and Planning, effective last Wednesday.
Gandara brings extensive experience within the Washington Unified School District and a proven track record in facilities management, construction oversight and project leadership.
Since joining the Washington Unified School District in 2011 as a groundskeeper and progressing to lead groundskeeper and facilities project analyst, Gandara has coordinated multimillion-dollar modernization projects, managed bond oversight and collaborated with architects, contractors, DSA inspectors and school administrators to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Gandara’s certifications in construction management from UC Davis, School Facilities Leadership from the Coalition for Adequate School Housing and hands-on expertise in regulatory compliance, grounds development and long-range planning position him to excel in advancing Washington Unified School District’s facilities mission.
In his new role, Gandara will lead strategic facilities planning, construction initiatives and maintenance operations to support safe, equitable learning environments across district sites.
Colleagues praise his reliability, collaborative spirit and commitment to student and staff needs, as evidenced by strong recommendations highlighting his role in projects such as the Westfield Village Modernization and various districtwide facilities improvements.
