WEST SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - During the Dec. 18, 2025, Special Board of Education Meeting, the Washington Unified School District (WUSD) Board of Trustees conducted their annual reorganization to determine new officers and committee assignments for 2026.

The new Washington Unified School District Board of Education Officers for 2026 are as follows:

President Virginia Coffey, Area 1; Vice President Vannessa Castro, Area 2; Clerk Jannette Hunt, Area 3; Trustee Sarah Kirby-Gonzalez, Area 5; Trustee Jackie Thu-Huong Wong, Area 4.

In addition to selecting officers, the Trustees approved the following Board subcommittee assignments.

Yolo County School Boards Association:

Member: Vannessa Castro; Alternate: Jackie Thu-Huong Wong.

City of West Sacramento 2x2:

Members: Sarah Kirby-Gonzalez and Vanessa Castro; Alternate: Jannette Hunt. 

County of Yolo 2x2:

Members: Virginia Coffey and Vannessa Castro; Alternate: Jannette Hunt.

Curriculum Council Subcommittee:

Members: Virginia Coffey and Sarah Kirby-Gonzalez; Alternate: Jackie Thu-Huong Wong.

Facilities Subcommittee: 

Members: Vannessa Castro and Jannette Hunt; Alternate: Virginia Coffey.

Policy Subcommittee: 

Members: Virginia Coffey and Sarah Kirby-Gonzalez; Alternate: Vannessa Castro.

Finance Subcommittee:

Members: Jannette Hunt and Vannessa Castro; Alternate: Sarah Kirby-Gonzalez.
