WSPD Swears in New Members

WEST SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) – The West Sacramento Police Department (WSPD) recently hosted its Annual Awards Ceremony, celebrating the dedication and commitment of staff alongside family, friends and community.

Among the award recipients were Andy Alvarez and Summer Moore who received the Community Recognition Citation and Sgt. Avagyan and Property & Evidence Technicians Kimberly Brandt & Chad Baptiste who received the Commanding Officer’s Citation.

Officer McCune, Detective Silvermaster and Sgt. Schmidt were awarded the Exceptional Performance Citation. Elizabeth Willis was named Employee of the Year, and Sgt. Watson received the Distinguished Leadership Award.

Motor Officer Williams received the Meritorious Service Ribbon. Lt. Winger received the Police Chief’s Citation. Sgt. Brazier was named Supervisor of the Year.

The WSPD Traffic Unit was named Team of the Year. Officer (now Sergeant) Torres was named Officer of the Year.

In addition, Chief Strange had the honor of swearing in two new team members, Officer Andrew Becker and Crime Scene Investigator (CSI) Jillian Miller to the West Sacramento Police Department.

Officer Becker is a recent graduate of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Academy and will now begin his Field Training Officer (FTO) program as he prepares to serve the West Sacramento community. CSI Miller will be joining West Sacramento Police Department’s CSI unit in support of the investigative work that officers and detectives do daily.
