SACRAMENTO REGION, CA (MPG) – The new year is here, and so is a fresh chapter for the Green & Gold. With our sights set on 2026, January was all about continuing our commitment to the Sacramento community. Here’s how the Athletics kicked off the year.
Nick Kurtz, Brent Rooker, Tyler Soderstrom and Jacob Wilson joined an exclusive Season Ticket Member bowling event at Red Hawk Casino on Saturday, Jan. 17.

Later that same day, our players cheered on the Sacramento Kings as they took on the Portland Trail Blazers. The group also spent time with A’s Season Ticket members during the game.
The following day, Monday, Jan. 19, we honored the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In recognition of his enduring call to service, Kurtz, Rooker, Soderstrom, Wilson and members of the Athletics front office joined local residents for a community clean-up at Valley High School in Sacramento, sponsored by EcoPress Sacramento.

The fun continued on Tuesday, Jan. 20, with a school visit to Westfield Village Elementary in West Sacramento. The group stopped by several first-third grade classrooms to read books and sign autographs for the students. Each student at the school received a Brent Rooker Bobblehead and each school staff member was given two tickets to a 2026 A’s home game.
Later that day, West Sacramento Mayor Guerrero recognized Kurtz with a proclamation celebrating his Rookie of the Year Award and declaring Jan. 20 Nick Kurtz Day.
