WOODLAND, CA (MPG) - Yolo County issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking a qualified organization to operate a community low-cost spay and neuter clinic in Woodland.

The County is seeking nonprofit animal welfare organizations, educational institutions and private veterinary providers to operate the clinic, which will occupy approximately 2,500 square feet of dedicated space in a County-owned facility on East Gibson Road. The selected operator will provide low-cost or no-cost spay and neuter services for dogs and cats, vaccinations, microchipping and other wellness services.

“This request for proposals marks an important step toward establishing a dedicated low-cost spay and neuter clinic in our community,” said Supervisor Angel Barajas, chair of the Yolo Animal Services Planning Agency. “Yolo County is moving from exploring what is possible to finding the right partner to help provide these important services.”

The selected operator will manage and staff the clinic while working with Yolo County Animal Services on outreach, education, referrals and other efforts to expand access to services. The County owns the building and will provide the clinic space for a nominal amount, along with building maintenance.

The RFP follows an information-gathering effort launched in 2025 to help the County better understand potential approaches to strengthening animal services and opportunities for partnerships.

Interested organizations may inspect the clinic space at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 2780 E. Gibson Road, Building 2A, in Woodland.
