WEST SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - The Athletics (A’s) and Sacramento State welcomed students, alumni, faculty, staff, families and fans to Sutter Health Park Tuesday Sept. 8 for Sacramento State Night at the A’s, bringing the Hornet community together for an evening of baseball, school spirit and Sacramento pride.

Throughout the evening, Hornets showed their green and gold spirit and put their Stingers Up as the A’s took on the Toronto Blue Jays.

The evening celebrated the connection between the Athletics and Sac State, two organizations united by a shared commitment to bringing people together and creating memorable experiences across the Sacramento region.

The celebration began with Sacramento State President Luke Wood throwing the ceremonial first pitch, helping kick off an evening celebration of Hornet pride. A proud two-time Sacramento State alumnus, President Wood has led his alma mater for the past three years. 

Fans who purchased the special Sacramento State Night at the A’s ticket package also received a limited-edition co-branded A’s and Sacramento State hat commemorating the evening.

Sacramento State Night at the A’s is one of several community partnership events hosted by the Athletics as part of the club’s commitment to celebrating the schools, organizations and communities that make Northern California unique. Through these partnerships, the Athletics continue creating opportunities for people to connect, celebrate local pride and enjoy the game of baseball together.
