WEST SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - The City of West Sacramento recently broke ground on the Park Boulevard Resurfacing and Bicycle/Pedestrian Safety Improvements Project, a roughly $1.9 million investment to make one of the city’s busiest corridors safer for people walking, biking and driving.
The project covers 1.1 miles of Park Boulevard between Jefferson Boulevard and Stone Boulevard. The corridor connects neighborhoods to schools, parks, shopping and freeway access. The project addresses community safety concerns and is a top-priority initiative in the City’s Bicycle, Pedestrian & Trails Master Plan.
“Voter-approved Measure O has helped us move projects like the Park Boulevard improvements forward more efficiently,” said West Sacramento Mayor Martha Guerrero. “Before we established our new Public Works Roads Crew, we would have needed to hire a contractor to complete the initial phase of this project. Having this team in place allows us to make better use of our resources and advance important infrastructure improvements for our community.”

“I’ve sat down with neighbors and heard their concerns about speeding and safety on Park Boulevard,” said Verna Sulpizio Hull, West Sacramento Mayor Pro Tem and District 4 Councilmember. “This project does more than improve one stretch of road; it creates safer crossings for pedestrians, a more comfortable connection for cyclists, and smoother road conditions for motorists and motorcyclists throughout our community.”
